Winter visitors

For the last several seasons we have been visited by what we think are the same four Sandhill cranes. Many of the farms in our area are the winter home for cranes, but in our case there have been four that seem to like to return to our fields. They have been out there every day for at least a month.

We can watch them from the house which is great entertainment.

For the past few days the crows have joined them on the field. I love crows so I really enjoy it. Click on the photo for a bigger picture so you can pick out the cranes. Use your browser's back button to get back to the blog.

And the large field across the street from ours is full of cranes. Enlarge this photo too so you can see these beautiful birds close up.

Love is in the.......

Well, it's in the air AND in the water. Chris played guitar last night for a friend's wedding on only 1 hour of sleep because he had been up all night Friday on the river. The minnows finally spawned! They collected nearly a million eggs which is even more than they can hold at the facility. We are all very relieved that they caught the spawning event this year and that minnow season and the accompanying constant phone calls and nights away are nearly over. The wedding was fun too--Chris played beautifully and we enjoyed an evening out together without the kiddos, a rare event for us.
